That’s a beautiful, golden loaf of herb garlic bread!
Here’s a simple recipe to make it at home:
Homemade Herb Garlic Bread
Ingredients:
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (about 40°C / 105°F)
2 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for brushing)
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
Herb-Garlic Topping:
3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
3 garlic cloves, finely minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
½ tsp salt
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions:
- Activate the Yeast
In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast.
Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Make the Dough
Add olive oil, salt, and flour gradually.
Mix and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours (until doubled in size).
- Shape the Bread
Punch down dough, shape into a loaf (or two smaller loaves).
Place on a parchment-lined baking tray.
Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Prepare Herb-Garlic Mix
Mix olive oil (or butter), garlic, herbs, and salt.
- Bake
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
Brush the top of the loaf with the herb-garlic mixture.
Score the bread with a sharp knife (3–4 slashes).
Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown and crusty.
- Serve
Cool slightly, slice, and enjoy with butter, pasta, or soup!
