Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp 
  • 1 lb Italian
  • ½ lb
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ⅓ cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 lb thick spaghetti
  • Kosher salt & black pepper (to taste)

Instructions:

Preparation

  1. Cook  Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. Brown: Heat  in a large pot over medium-high heat. Brown sausage and ground beef, breaking up the pieces.
  3. Sauté Veggies: Add onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  4. Build the Sauce: Stir in tomato paste, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, and cayenne. Mix well.
  5. Simmer: Deglaze with water and crushed tomatoes. Bring to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes, allowing flavors to deepen.
  6. Finish & Serve: Taste for seasoning, then toss cooked spaghetti into the sauce along with Parmesan cheese. Mix well and enjoy!
